On 18 January, the members of the Construction Materials Group (CMG) of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, held their first meeting for 2017 at VINCI Technology Centre in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
The Construction Materials Group was set up to provide a forum for the exchange of technical knowledge, information and state-of-the-art industrial practice on all aspects of Construction Materials. The main scope of the group is to focus on professional and technical issues relating to production, design, fitness-for-purpose, applications, cost and recycling/end-use.
During the visit, delegates were given an introduction to the business, by Steve Boyd, Head of Excellence of VINCI Technology Centre, followed by a tour of the cladding testing facilities, acoustics and material testing laboratories.
The CMG members were very impressed with VINCI Technology Centre’s facilities and range of services. James Coulson, director of TFT Woodexperts Ltd commented “I always value seeing how other industries do things - and your testing facilities for concrete and other structures are most impressive!”.
