Paris to Dakar…Nailed it
29 Team members from VINCI Technology Centre UK took part in a challenge to raise money for Cancer Research.
The target was to cover the length of the Paris to Dakar rally , some 3977 miles , in 73 days, either walking , hiking, or running.
The target was achieved with a day to spare , in fact we overshot the distance by 82 miles. The total climb, or height achieved was a staggering 175,000 feet or c.23,000 metres (nearly three times the height of Mount Everest)
Recent retiree Peter Darkins put many to shame with an overall distance in excess of 500 miles.
Some of the team are pictured below at a well-earned barbeque to celebrate completing the challenge, note we cannot help building things and knocking them down! (we can build and test anything)
